About Tangos de la Repompa
Tangos de la Repompa is named after La Repompa de Málaga (1937-1959), a flamenco singer whose passionate voice made this style famous. However, the lyrics were originally created by La Pirula (1915-1991). Despite her short life, La Repompa left a lasting impact on flamenco, and today, her name is synonymous with these tangos.
For our choreography, we will use a modern version performed by Las Migas, an all-female flamenco quartet known for their unique and innovative sound. Their album Libres won Best Flamenco Album at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards.
