Progressive Level Ballet Class on Tuesdays

This special term will be a little different! Throughout the session, we’ll work on a centre routine sequence that showcases key elements of a ballet class: adage, tendu combinations, across-the-floor exercises, and small & grand jumps. Additionally, we’ll work on a short variation from the classical ballet repertoire—a beautiful way to refine technique and artistry.

Making Ballet Accessible for Adults

We recognize that adult ballet students come from diverse backgrounds, with different ages, fitness levels, and experiences. This is a recreational ballet class designed to be inclusive and welcoming—so don’t hesitate to join, regardless of age or physical ability. Move at your own pace, listen to your body, and enjoy the process! Our group is welcoming, diverse (ages spanning four decades!), and inclusive, accommodating dancers at different levels within the guidelines. Some students started ballet as adults a few years ago, while others have years of prior training and enjoy focusing on strength and technique rather than complexity.

Note for Male Participants: Ballet is for everyone! We welcome all genres to join and become an essential part of our vibrant community, bringing balance and diversity to our classes and performances.

About this level

Students at this level have been dancing for approximately 4 years typically attending classes once a week or with equivalent experience. The 90-minute class includes a full barre and center practice. The curriculum focuses on strengthening and improving technique, with simple combinations that will gradually increase in complexity as the group progresses. New steps, as well as water variations around the same steps will be introduced at a comfortable pace to ensure everyone in the group moves along at the same pace.

For a detailed view of our ballet class levels, please refer to our Level Chart at the end of this page. Some of the steps covered in the centre so far include: Adage,Tendu and Pirouette Combinations, Épaulement, Petit Allegro (Assemblé, Jeté, Échappé, Sissonne, Glissade), Piqué Turns (getting started), Waltz and Pas de Vals (balancé) en tournament.
