Progressive Level Ballet Class on Sundays
Beginner 4 / Advanced Beginner
Students at this level have been dancing for approximately 3 to 4 years typically attending classes once a week or with equivalent experience. The 90-minute class includes a full barre and center practice. The curriculum focuses on strengthening and improving technique, with simple combinations that will gradually increase in complexity as the group progresses. New steps, as well as water variations around the same steps will be introduced at a comfortable pace to ensure everyone in the group moves along at the same pace.
For a detailed view of our ballet class levels, please refer to our Level Chart at the end of this page. Some of the steps covered in the centre so far include: Adage,Tendu and Pirouette Combinations, Épaulement, Petit Allegro (Assemblé, Jeté, Échappé, Sissonne, Glissade), Piqué Turns (getting started), Waltz and Pas de Vals (balancé) en tournament.

Our Commitment To Making Ballet For Adults Accessible
Recognizing that this is primarily a recreational adult ballet class, we acknowledge varying fitness levels, ages, and skills among participants. We welcome students of all ages, respecting diverse abilities and physical limitations. Don't hesitate to join the class based on age or fitness level. We invite you to participate at your own pace, encouraging you to listen to your body and engage as much as feels comfortable.
Who comes to this class?
Our group is welcoming, diverse (with ages spanning four decades!), and inclusive, accommodating dancers with a wide range of experience within the level guidelines. For example, we have students who began dancing ballet as adults for the first time shortly before the pandemic, as well as seasoned dancers with a long history of ballet training who enjoy attending this class to focus on technique and strength rather than complexity. If you're unsure whether this class is the right fit, we encourage you to try it out! You also have the option to attend our Beginner 1 class from 3:15 to 4:30 pm for a considerably less challenging experience or our Open Level class from 3:00 to 4:30 pm for an intermediate/advanced experience.
